A New Jersey native, Barry earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Vermont in 1989 and his Juris Doctor from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1995. Shortly after graduation, he relocated to Virginia, where he has been a licensed attorney for 29 years.

Barry began his legal career as an Assistant Public Defender in Loudoun County, defending clients in a wide range of criminal cases. He then represented the Department of Social Services in the Prince William County Attorney’s Office, prosecuting child abuse and neglect cases. Transitioning to private practice, Barry handled a general law practice with a focus on complex criminal litigation, while also representing children as a Guardian ad Litem in family law matters. His criminal practice spanned serious violent offenses, including murder, rape, robbery, and aggravated malicious wounding.
