Leadership Initiatives
This nonprofit works within the education and youth development space to help teens explore future careers through immersive, in-person experiences in Washington, DC. Programs cover areas such as criminal law and trial practice, law and justice reform, medicine and public health, neuroscience, artificial intelligence, business and entrepreneurship, national security and diplomacy, and cybersecurity. Rather than simulations, students collaborate with professionals and partner organizations on real-world projects that build practical skills. Families comparing summer internship programs for high school students often look for time with mentors, exposure to actual casework, and opportunities to reflect on learning; these elements are central here. Participants also gain structured college-prep support, including essay guidance, letters of recommendation, and help organizing portfolios or personal websites. Scholarship and fundraising assistance, along with flexible payment options, are available based on need and eligibility. Leadership Initiatives serves students from across the United States while hosting core programs on campus facilities to encourage face-to-face teamwork, professional feedback, and peer learning.
