Staying at Hawk’s Nest RV & Cabins offers the perfect balance of comfort and adventure, making it an ideal basecamp for exploring Northern California’s rugged beauty. Nestled in the peaceful pines of Modoc National Forest, guests can enjoy quiet, full-hookup RV sites or cozy cabins while being just minutes from unforgettable attractions. Spend your days exploring the lava tube caves and volcanic landscapes of Lava Beds National Monument, paddling or fishing on the serene waters of Medicine Lake, or hiking the striking obsidian flows at Glass Mountain. Wildlife enthusiasts can visit Tule Lake National Wildlife Refuge for exceptional birdwatching, while nearby forest trails and scenic viewpoints offer endless opportunities for hiking and photography. After a day of adventure, return to Hawk’s Nest to relax by the campfire under a sky full of stars, experiencing the true charm of Northern California’s outdoors. The campground offers 22 RV sites: 5 full hook-up sites with 50 amp service, 12 full hook-up sites with 30 amp service, and 6 dry RV sites for a more off-grid experience. Guests can enjoy large, flat gravel-padded sites with plenty of space for slide-outs, all set within a peaceful, mostly shaded pine forest. For those who prefer tent camping, there are scenic spots tucked under the pines as well as a larger group tenting area with convenient nearby parking. Every stay also includes access to clean, complimentary hot showers for added comfort. Our historic cabins at Hawk’s Nest blend rustic charm with modern comfort, offering a cozy retreat surrounded by nature. These turn-of-the-century cabins originated from the historic Long Bell Railroad camps right here in Tionesta, California, preserving a unique piece of the area’s heritage. Each cabin features comfortable, updated interiors with a mix of queen and twin beds, making them perfect for couples, families, or small groups. Fully furnished kitchenettes include a fridge, stove, coffeemaker, and essential cookware, so you can enjoy home-style meals during your stay. We provide fresh bed linens, pillows, and towels for a hassle-free experience, while outside you’ll find picnic tables, BBQ grills, and outdoor furniture—perfect for relaxing evenings under the pines.
